“laimikis” in lithuanian means lucky catch;
for us “laimikis” is people on the streets of Vilnius (Lithuania) - though
we are glad to include street people from other towns (and other countries) in it.

“laimikis” as a concept of street photography is based on three principles:
1. the people of your town are no less exotic than personages from overseas;
2. every of them has his/her own story, which is much more interesting, than the comments of any expert;
3. street photography is a communication with passers-by and the way to pay a compliment, overcoming usual urban alienation.

as a result our readers get:
- a fragmented Vilnius guide, which is highly personal;
- a gallery of urban personages, some of whom you can meet in Vilnius some day :)

“laimikis” is being created (since 2oo7 o3 o7) by:

  • Pėdsakas (Jekaterina Lavrinec), areas: anthropology, media and urban studies;
  • with a help of: Cinamonas (Julius Narkūnas), areas: architecture, photography;
    • if you have got any ideas, comments or material you’d like to discuss,

      I wish you would have a little advertisement to embed on personal sites such as facebook or myspace. Also “Tell your friends” button would be useful…So more people would visit :)
